Country Music Rocks interview with Claudia Lee:

CMR: Of everything you have achieved, what are you most proud of?

CL: I am very proud of all of my accomplishments. Everything that I have experienced has changed my life in a very positive way. Each project that has graced my life, has guided me to flourish and grow with my music and acting. I am very proud of owning who I am in a business that tends to have artists that struggle with accepting their uniqueness and personal beauty. I’m very proud of staying humble and staying true to who I am as a person and artist. I am very blessed to have started my career on Disney’s “Zeke and Luther” and now the CW Network’s “Hart of Dixie.”

One very important accomplishment that means so much to me is the completion of my country album “Here Right Now.” It is a work of art that has allowed me to express my inner thoughts and feelings. I’m so proud that I have something that is so beautiful such as my music and acting to express my artistic personality and explain who I am. It is truly a freeing experience to share my artistic expressions.

CMR: Who were your major influences?

CL: In my music career, I look up to artists such as Faith Hill and Reba McEntire. They are empowering women that have a voice and are well-received and loved in the music business. Johnny Cash, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Tim McGraw, and Luke Bryan are just a few men in Country that I look up to as well. I also enjoy listening to Amy Winehouse, Adele, Carole King, Gwen Stefanie, Pink, and Patti Smith. These are a few female artists from my extensive and diverse list of influential musical artists. I enjoy listening to many types of music, in order to understand what people are responding to and to add new interpretation to my music.

Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock are actresses that I admire immensely. Their dedication and breathtaking performances are what I want to accomplish with my acting career. I also admire Gwyneth Paltrow, because of the delicate feistiness that she incorporates in her characters. I look up to Rachel Bilson and Jaime King, two amazing actresses that inspire my craft every day. I am truly so blessed to work with them and to be able to grow in their presence.

CMR: If you weren't singing, what would you be doing?

CL: To be truly honest with you, I have no clue what I would be doing if I were not singing. I LOVE to sing, it is a pure gift from God that guides me day by day, and allows me to send a positive message to the world. My music has a meaning and message, and without singing and entertaining I don’t how I would convey and relate my feelings to so many people.

CMR: Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

CL: Ten years from now, I see myself having a couple Grammys and an Oscar. I also see myself releasing my fourth or fifth Country album. I would also enjoy directing and producing.

CMR: What can you tell us about your new album?

CL: My album “Here Right Now” is a work of art that is very important to me. I’ve been working on the album for over a year and a half. I’m a message-related artist, and each song carries its own personal message and meaning. I listen to many types of music, and enjoy the influential styles of music from the 60s and 70s, and I like to incorporate different styles into my music. Since this was my first album, I wanted to give people a taste of music that will come from my future albums. People can expect that my music will have songs that are inspired by life events. Many of my songs allude to certain life events that I have seen or experienced personally or that my close friends have endured. In my opinion, there is no better “drawing board” then life itself!
