Leah Daniels is a girl with a purpose. She wants her songs,
and career, to mean something more than words and music … she wants to
entertain.
Growing up on a small farm in Uxbridge, Ontario, Leah was constantly
surrounded by music and singing. Whether it was yodeling with her
grandfather, or being schooled by her uncle on the finer points of
classic rock, Daniels learned to have an open mind towards music. Leah’s
brand of country pop music, and heartfelt lyrics, are a testament to
those days on the farm but it is her catchy hooks, straight-up pop
disposition, and passion for the stage that indicate something truly
special. All this leaves the farm and arrives at the world-stage with
Leah’s soon to be released, early 2012, self-titled debut album.
Leah spent time touring and honing her live performance skills in
numerous stage and touring productions. “From Hannah Montana tribute
shows to singing at the 2010 Olympics, I have done a lot of different
stuff. One thing I know for sure is that no matter what your singing, be
entertaining!”. During this time, her growth as a country solo artist
was no secret to those watching her mature both as a singer-songwriter
and a musician. An early indication of this was her 2008 debut EP. It
sold 1,000 copies in her hometown, while her song “Still” was showcased
on CMT’s hit show, “UnStable”.
In 2010, Leah began to break out as a country artist. She won the
Durham Region Music Award for Country Artist of the Year and also
performed at the Havelock Country Jamboree alongside such music legends
as Dwight Yoakam and Tanya Tucker. She followed this with a September
appearance in the New Artist Showcase at the 2010 CCMA Music Week.
Leah recognizes that the music business landscape is very different
today. “It has become more of an entrepreneur’s world. Even the best
music needs that extra push to get it to the fans. I work relentlessly
to build a motivated fan base on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Even
with all that, I am always looking for new ways to get my music to more
people”.
Leah is now ready to release her highly anticipated, self-titled,
debut album to the country marketplace in early 2012. Working alongside
producer/songwriter Sam Ellis, the duo has created an album that is as
infectious as it is thought provoking. With influences that include
Shania Twain, Keith Urban and a dash of Katy Perry’s glitter, Daniels’
debut LP will no doubt garner attention. The first video release, a
remake of the Elvis classic, Suspicious Minds, hits CMT late October
2011.
“I did a lot of co-writing for this record and really took the time
to craft and collect the right songs,” Leah enthuses. “I find the best
inspiration comes from my life experiences and those around me. They’re
not complicated topics but they reflect on events that have touched my
life. My hope is that the emotions I felt when writing these songs
translate into something that inspires, and connects, with the
listener.”
This is the year of Leah Daniels, so sit back, press play … and
enjoy.
